On January 5, 2023, Jefferies analyst Samad Samana downgraded Vertex to Hold from Buy. Among other issues, Samana opined that he did not see a material upside in the Company's fundamentals, citing a slowdown in key-end market drivers, including globalization, e-commerce, and IT spending.

Following the downgrade, Vertex's stock price fell $1.80 per share, or 12.2%, to close at $12.96 per share on January 5, 2023.
