Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - April 17, 2025) - Xiaohua Gong, prominent businessman and former mayoral candidate, has officially been approved by Elections Canada to run as an independent candidate for Member of Parliament in Don Valley North. Gong will participate in Canada's federal election scheduled for April 28, with advance voting open from April 18 to April 21, 2025.
Gong has previously contested notable mayoral elections in Toronto (2023) and Mississauga (2024), consistently advocating for transparency, fairness, and efficiency in governance, with particular emphasis on education and healthcare.
"This election represents a substantial responsibility, and I am fully prepared to face any challenges ahead," Gong stated. "With the ongoing deadlock between the Liberal and Conservative parties, many voters have lost faith in the current political system. We urgently need a representative who genuinely speaks for and prioritizes the interests of ordinary Canadians."
Commitment to Free Higher Education
Central to Gong's campaign is a groundbreaking policy of eliminating university tuition fees for Canadian citizens, designed to reduce financial burdens and promote equal educational opportunities. Gong views education as critical for Canada's global competitiveness and believes financial barriers should never prevent students from realizing their potential.
A Diverse Voice for Fair Economic Growth
"As an immigrant, entrepreneur, and advocate, I deeply understand the diverse challenges facing our communities," Gong noted. "My candidacy embodies the collective aspirations of those dedicated to fairness, justice, and economic growth."
Six Key Policy Priorities:
Abolishing individual income tax
Implementing free university education
