Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - March 4, 2013) - Andrew Gillies, CEO of Metallica Minerals (ASX: MLM), a scandium, cobalt, nickel play in North Queensland, Australia, spoke about the flagship SCONI project in an interview with Tracy Weslosky, Publisher of ProEdgeWire. Gillies noted that the Project is on track "for production by the end of 2015". He added that Metallica is "looking at kicking off a definitive feasibility study next month subject to financing of the project. We hope to be entering production by late 2015".

Metallica, added Gillies "is unique, in a sense, as a first mover on scandium…which is widely distributed on Earth's crust but very rarely enriches to the point where it is at exportable levels." The SCONI project "has substantial resources of scandium; it is very favorable and it's at a good location". Metallica, moreover, has secured "an off-take agreement with Bloom Energy, a US based solid oxide fuel cell company and we're also looking at getting additional off-takes to kick start the project in the alloy sector, particularly in the aerospace sector."
