Applicants are asked to submit an original essay addressing a specific entrepreneurial challenge they would like to solve, the solution they propose, the value that solution could create, and the leadership qualities necessary to transform the concept into a successful business.

Robert Stitzel is a professional engineer, entrepreneur, and business leader whose career spans more than three decades across engineering, operations, company development, and the energy industry. As the founder and operator of independent oil and gas companies, Robert Stitzel brings direct experience in engineering design, project management, business development, organizational growth, and executive leadership.

His professional experience also informs the scholarship's focus on ethical leadership and meaningful problem-solving. Eligibility and Essay Requirements

Applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduate students at an accredited college or university in the United States and demonstrate a strong interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, or business leadership.

Each applicant must submit an original, unpublished essay of 750 to 1,000 words responding to the following prompt:

"Entrepreneurship is often driven by identifying opportunities where others see obstacles. Describe a challenge or problem you would like to solve through entrepreneurship. Explain your proposed solution, how it would create value for others, and the leadership qualities you believe are essential for turning your vision into a successful business."

Essays are expected to demonstrate clear organization, thoughtful analysis, creativity, leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking. Applicants must confirm that their submissions are their own original work. Essays generated entirely by artificial intelligence or copied from other sources are not eligible.

Application Deadline and Announcement

Applications for the one-time scholarship opportunity must be completed by April 15, 2027. The selected recipient is scheduled to be announced on May 15, 2027.

Applicants should submit a single PDF containing their full name, phone number, email address, college or university, current field of study, expected graduation year, and completed essay. A résumé highlighting academic achievements, leadership experience, or extracurricular involvement may also be included.
