Quebec-based Ortho RTi is an emerging Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine technology company dedicated to the development of novel therapeutic tissue repair technology to dramatically improve the success rate of sports medicine surgeries for soft tissue injuries. The company's proprietary biopolymer has been specifically designed to increase the healing rates of injuries to tendons, meniscus and cartilage. The polymer can be directly placed into the site of injury by a surgeon during a routine operative procedure without significantly extending the time of the surgery and without further intervention.

Concentrating on the Rotator Cuff and Meniscus represents a market opportunity of almost 2,000,000 surgeries per year in the US alone and the current standard of care does not provide an adequate treatment.

The products under development are intended to address a portion of the $5.6 billion sports medicine market growing at 8% annually.

The company has grown its total headcount to 19, including 13 scientists under contract. It has also obtained approximately $1 million in a non-dilutive Prima Grant, and over $12 million in funding for research and development has been invested in the technology to date.
