The application is open to undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university who are pursuing a degree in healthcare or a related field, such as medicine, nursing, or public health. To be considered, applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and show a clear dedication to a career that contributes to the improvement of healthcare services.

A central component of the application process is an original essay between 1,000 and 1,500 words. The prompt asks students to "Discuss the economic challenges in healthcare today. How do you think innovations and policies could improve both affordability and quality of care for patients?"
