  • Cooking accounts for 83% of all campus housing fires.
  • Student housing main life safety threat on and off American campuses.

Mississauga, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - August 11, 2016) - Pioneering Technology Corporation (TSXV: PTE) (OTC: PTEFF), ("Pioneering" or the "Company"), a technology company and North America's leader in cooking fire prevention technologies and products is very pleased to announce four new Florida based universities that are installing Pioneering's SmartBurner to help better protect their students from the number one campus housing threat — cooking fires.

September is Campus Fire Safety Month, the 9th annual nationwide effort (recognized by proclamation by all 50 Governors and the President of the United States) to raise fire and life safety awareness on campuses across the United States. This year's Campus Fire Safety campaign theme is "What Kind of Cook Are You in the Kitchen". Cooking accounts for 83% of all campus housing fires. Student residential housing poses the main life safety threat on and off American campuses. The primary reasons for these fires include: lack of familiarity with fire safety practices; lack of familiarity with cooking; inattentiveness when cooking, and; misuse of alcohol.

Florida International University is currently installing 765 SmartBurners; South Florida University is installing 560 SmartBurners; and trials are underway at the University of North Florida and the University of Central Florida. These Florida based schools join other Florida based schools and hundreds of other universities and colleges across North America who have been installing Pioneering's cooking fire prevention products (SmartBurner, Safe-T-element and Safe-T-sensor) on and off campus to better protect their students and properties.

Pioneering CEO Kevin Callahan said, "We are very proud of the difference our products have made helping prevent cooking fires and reducing false alarms on campuses across North America. I have two university students of my own. Our children are our most precious asset and our future. As parents we need to do whatever we can to not only educate them but also protect them."
