The opening chapter of Academic will be held online on Thursday, November 19 at 3:00 PM MDT and will explore the art of contemporary cloud computing; with a spotlight on Montreal's globally recognized cloud ecosystem.

The masterclass will be hosted by Jim Love, Chief Information Officer at IT World Canada, and feature five of Montreal's most prominent cloud computing experts; including:

  • Sofiene Kemoun, General Director of Strategic Initiatives at Videotron
  • Daina Proctor, Associate Partner of Security Intelligence Operations and Consulting at IBM

"Over the past decade, cloud services have evolved from being perceived as a nebulous, risky solution suited for non-critical services to a position of strategic prevalence in the vast majority of enterprises; impacting the vast majority of business functions. Cloud services have reliably addressed the false promises of inflated expectations, myopic forays into disjointed and non-critical solutions, and legitimate concerns about security, privacy, and sovereignty," commented Robert Brennan Hart, ERA Advisory Board Member and Executive Producer of ERA Live Events.

"However, with many of cloud computing's great promises already fulfilled, how can one of mankind's greatest inventions continue to empower and propel global innovation in the interest of solving humanity's most critical issues?"

The 75-minute digital masterclass will conclude with a 15-minute live laptop donation drive where guests will be encouraged to donate their old laptops to emerging young innovators who desperately need access to a computer so thy can learn from home during the global pandemic.
