Hsinchu, Taiwan--(Newsfile Corp. - April 7, 2016) - Archers Systems received a repeat order with a scope of delivery of integrated high efficiency N-type monocrystalline heterojunction (HJT) cell production systems to a solar PV cell manufacturing world-class leader, Neo Solar Power (NSP, 3576 TT). The total contractual solution includes a PECVD and a new TCO coater which are the key equipments to succeed in achieving >23% conversion efficiency of HJT bifacial cell mass production.

Archers Systems announces receiving repeat order from a cutting edge Asian solar PV cell leading manufacturer, Neo Solar Power (NSP, 3576 TT), who had already acquired Archers world patented parallel-line PECVD for bifacial HJT cell pilot line. Now they are aiming for higher efficiency >23% HJT solar technology by acquiring more Archers' equipments. Since N-type HJT cell has superior characteristics than P-type PERC cell, NSP will have the HJT cell mass production by the end of 2016, which will be the earliest among Taiwan cell makers. This order includes Archers PECVD for coating highly uniform nano-scale thin film layer and a new TCO coater to provide a better Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) layer with higher conductivity and higher transparency capable to increase 1% efficiency of the HJT cell. With the flexibility to adopt various new materials for the TCO coating of HJT cells, customer can also further reduce production cost. These equipments will enable HJT cell mass production, which C/P value will outperforms previous cells.

N-type HJT cell has the following advantages: low temperature process, low energy consumption, high efficiency, low temperature coefficient, no light induced degradation (LID free), no potential induced degradation (PID free), and a bifacial cell structure. For 6" HJT cell mass production, its front side can reach 23% efficiency and the rear-side can get 90% efficiency of the front-side. Compared with P-type mono PERC module, both single/bifacial HJT modules have higher electricity gain by 10% and 20% respectively. Therefore, HJT module is suitable for the applications of area-limited power plants and rooftops. For the same rated module output power in the desert environment at an environment temperature around 50℃, HJT module can generate electricity 10% more than P-type PERC module.

Due to technical advantages of HJT cell, many advanced solar cell makers have decided to expand their HJT cell production capability, including Panasonic for 1.05GW and European X-GWp consortium for 1GW. With the US largest rooftop solar PV builder aiming on constructing >1GW HJT solar cell production capacity in its factory, Archers Systems had successfully delivered and received the final acceptance for the equipment ordered by this client in 2015. According to 2016 ITRPV roadmap and global capacity trend, the newly added HJT capacity for the next 5 years will exceed 17GW, roughly equaling to a capital expenditure of US$3.8B.

While Archers Systems is focusing on the design and integration of semiconductor equipments for mass production, efforts are spent on integrating local precision machining and critical processing equipment supply chain and global talents. Equipment products such as PECVD, LPCVD and new TCO coater are based on market demand and technical cooperation with customers. Archers is dedicated to provide new generation equipments for clients to maintain the high growth rate and sustain high profit. Archers advanced deposition systems have successfully supported solar PV customers to manufacture the most advanced HJT and CIGS solar cells with the highest efficiency.
