About us

As North America’s only producer of natural graphite, Northern Graphite is in a unique and strategic position. Our role extends beyond mere supply; we are at the forefront of powering electric vehicles with essential battery anode materials. It is more than a business for us – it’s about being a key player in the global shift towards electrification. Northern Graphite’s strategy is to leverage our unique position to become a vertically integrated mine-to-market company meeting the growing needs of the North American and European markets by producing graphite, supplying battery anode material and redefining carbon material solutions for industrial markets.

As North America’s only producer of flake graphite, we are working hard to leverage our first mover’s advantage and be a key supplier to automakers building for the #evrevolution. Our growth strategy is to boost our short-, medium- and longer-term mine production capacity and to bring on battery materials capabilities timed to coming market demand. Read more about our strategy in our 2023 financial highlights report here: https://lnkd.in/eVAVjvgw

Times like these, as we face in the energy transition one of the most profound changes to the global economy in recent history, make events like this week’s Ninth Annual Current Trends in Mining Finance (CTMF) conference especially important, and Northern Graphite is proud to have been invited to participate on a panel on how to encourage investment in early-stage mining and exploration. Thanks to the CTMF and panel moderator Kimberly Darlington. The future is electric. Let’s make it happen.

The clarion call is nearly half a decade old and still more needs to be done. The #energytransition and #evrevolution is upon is, and at #northerngraphite we are driving forward on our main growth catalysts: boosting our #graphite resources and production and preparing to build one of North America's largest Battery Anode Facilities in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, so that we can supply the coming gigafactory boom.

“Those that control these supply chains will hold the balance of power for the 21st century auto and energy industries.” Simon Moores... And here's the info on those supply chains - with data from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence together with a few other industry monitors. Simon's clarion call at the US Senate Energy Committee back in Spring 2019 was the ear pricking eye popping moment for me... "We are in the midst of the global battery arms race " he declared in his opening statement! 😳WOWZERS! The International Energy Agency (IEA)'s Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2024' Abstract tells us:- 'Critical minerals, which are essential for a range of clean energy technologies, have risen up the policy agenda in recent years due to increasing demand, volatile price movements, supply chain bottlenecks and geopolitical concerns' 'The dynamic nature of the market necessitates greater transparency and reliable information to facilitate informed decision-making, as underscored by the request from Group of Seven (G7) ministers for the IEA to produce medium- and long-term outlooks for critical minerals' 'The Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2024 follows the IEA’s inaugural review of the market last year. It provides a snapshot of industry developments in 2023 and early 2024 and offers medium- and long-term outlooks for the demand and supply of key energy transition minerals based on the latest technology and policy trends. The report also assesses key risks to the reliability, sustainability and diversity of critical mineral supply chains and analyses the consequences for policy and industry stakeholders. It will be accompanied by an updated version of the Critical Minerals Data Explorer, an interactive online tool that allows users to explore the latest IEA projections' ALL of the data and analysis here illustrates just how epically interconnected the world is…and how ‘throwing a bag a spanners into the works’ truly cocks things up! I think YOU know which ‘spanner’s’ I’m referring to of course! See you in Munich at Reuters ‘Automotive Europe’ maybe?… Copy of link to May 2024 report the comments section below👇 #supplychain #criticalminerals #energy #geopolitics

Northern Graphite COO Kirsty Liddicoat initially chose to study geology because she could go camping! After her first co-op work she realized that she loved that every day was different, and there were challenges beyond the normal work – such as dealing with extreme weather. With a MBA, a M. Mining ENG., and a B. SC. (Hons) Geology, her career, that started in Australia, has taken her to a variety of countries. Kirsty says she loves working in mining because it gives her “the ability to create value and change people’s lives in the communities where we work while enabling the green transition.”
