In partnership with BlockEnergy, we recently broke ground on a new residential community microgrid in Fairmount Heights, Maryland, that will see greater energy equity for new home buyers in the area. This new community will feature six zero energy single-family homes, powered by a community microgrid energy system that combines rooftop solar panels with battery energy storage. This first of it’s kind groundbreaking creates an opportunity for first time low-to-medium income home buyers to have access to advanced power systems that help produce clean, reliable, and low-cost energy. “This is a significant step in what the future holds and what it’s going to look like as we all combat climate change and as we all look to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Tyler Anthony, CEO of Pepco Holdings. Thank you to Housing Initiative Partnership, Inc. (HIP), BlockEnergy, Fairmount Heights Mayor Akiaba Stewart and Prince George’s Council Member Jolene Ivey for collaborating on an impactful community project.
