John brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization, particularly in the healthcare sector, his deep knowledge of the legal hemp market, and his dedication to helping veterans. John's career is marked by his exceptional leadership, mentorship, and his passion for educating and training military leaders on the opportunities and possibilities presented by legal hemp. As a former military officer and enlisted soldier, he understands the unique challenges and needs of our armed forces. One of our primary goals at Hemp For Victory is to help veterans address issues such as PTSD and chronic pain through the use of legal hemp. We believe that the therapeutic properties of hemp can provide alternative solutions for veterans who are seeking relief from these conditions. John's expertise as an Army Emergency Room nurse and his understanding of the healthcare sector will be invaluable in guiding our efforts to support veterans in their journey towards improved well-being. In addition to addressing health issues, we are also committed to providing sustainable housing solutions for veterans using hemp-based materials. Hemp has incredible potential as a sustainable and eco-friendly building material, and we believe that by utilizing hemp-based materials, we can create affordable and environmentally conscious housing options for our veterans. With his background in the hemp supply chain, John is well-equipped to guide our organization in our mission to educate and train military leaders on the potential benefits of legal hemp, as well as to address the specific needs of veterans. His consulting work in areas such as real estate development, mergers and acquisitions, and legal nurse consulting showcases his ability to navigate complex operational landscapes and find innovative solutions. As a seasoned executive and mentor, John excels in applying systems thinking, organizational development, change management, and executive coaching. His mission is to empower military leaders and veterans to understand the potential benefits and opportunities presented by legal hemp, and to equip them with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions. John's addition to our board of directors enhances our capacity to educate and train military leaders on the possibilities presented by legal hemp, as well as to address the unique needs of veterans. We believe that by providing education, support, and sustainable housing options, we can make a positive impact in the lives of our veterans. Hemp For Victory is extremely proud to welcome as the newest member of our Board of Directors, Vincent Morales (Vinnie). He is a long-time supporter and friend of Hemp For Victory and brings with him a vast wealth of knowledge and experience as a leader in the veteran-focused non-profit space. Like all of our board members, Vinnie is a distinguished military veteran. He is a former U.S. Army Sergeant First Class who deployed three times to combat zones as a combat engineer defusing improvised explosive devices and clearing routes in the most inhospitable and dangerous conditions. After 12 years of faithful service and three combat tours, Vinnie separated from the Army with an honorable discharge, a chest full of medals, and the burden of many of the same challenges faced by veterans today. His awards include the Bronze Star, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Medals, and a Combat Action badge. He dedicated the rest of his life helping others, especially veterans, survive, thrive, and navigate the difficult paths life can throw at you. Vinnie obtained a degree and certification as a Social Worker. Vinnie Morales is a co-founder of the Veterans Community Project, an extremely successful and impressive veteran focused non-profit dedicated to ending veteran homelessness. It was with Vinnie and this organization that he originally became involved with Hemp For Victory. In June 2023, Hemp For Victory and the Veterans at the VCP built a hempcrete structure to demonstrate for leaders how to build healthy, sustainable buildings using hempcrete.  We are so grateful to have Vinnie’s energy, expertise, and commitment to veterans to help us forward our mission of educating military and community leaders about the opportunities presented by the hemp and cannabis plant. On this Medal of Honor Day, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our Member of the Board of Advisors at HempforVictory, Colonel (Ret.) Donald "Doc" Ballard. We would like to wish a very happy birthday to The American Legion, our parent organization. We are incredibly proud to serve as the first-of-its-kind virtual post for the American Legion which gives us a huge amount of reach and ability to positively impact the veteran community and their families. On this day, 105 years ago, the American Legion held its first caucus in Paris, France after the conclusion of the First World War. Since that time, the American Legion has been working on behalf of veterans to bring about great change to include things like the GI Bill and the ability to receive retirement and disability simultaneously. We are proud at the Blue Sky Post to be driving change by encouraging expanded research by the VA into psychedelics and other plant-based medicines to address PTSD, chronic pain and the variety of issues that veterans (and their families suffer) from their service to the Nation. Data from the National Poll on Healthy Aging, which is run by University of Michigan’s Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation, shows that 12% of people aged 50 to 80 have consumed a THC-containing substance in the past year, with 4% saying they do so multiple times a week

For the third time in six years #southdakota voters could be deciding whether to legalize cannabis for adult use. The group behind the last two efforts is making another run for 2024, now there is a second ballot measure is in the works. Emmitt Reistroffer, the COO for the dispensary Genesis Farms, who drafted the legislation said that his ballot initiative is important because it takes into account all the reasons why the South Dakota Supreme Court struck down the previous initiative that passed. This is a reminder that when drafting a ballot Initiative for cannabis reform, you need to go through your state's rules with the fine tooth comb to make sure they can not disqualify it on a small technicality.
