Northern Graphite

On April 12th 2024, Lac des Iles hosted 2 groups of 20 students accompanied by their teachers from the CFP (Centre de Formation Professionelle de Mont Laurier). The students toured the Lac des Iles Graphite Mine site to enrich their learning experience as part of their program related to Heavy Machinery Operations on Forest Roads. First the students experienced the importance of Health Safety on a mine site by completing the Safety Induction required prior to touring the open pit, ore stockpile and much more. Our Lac des Iles team led the visit, orienting the students on various aspects of the graphite industry while answering any questions that came up related to Heavy machinery equipment on site. Le 12 avril 2024, Lac des Îles a accueilli 2 groupes de 20 étudiants accompagnés de leurs professeurs du CFP (Centre de formation professionnelle de Mont Laurier). Les étudiants ont visité le site de la mine de graphite du Lac des Îles pour enrichir leur expérience d'apprentissage dans le cadre de leur programme lié aux opérations de machinerie lourde sur les chemins forestiers. Tout d'abord, les étudiants ont découvert l'importance de la santé et sécurité sur un site minier en complétant l’induction à la sécurité requise avant de visiter la mine à ciel ouvert, le stock de minerai et bien plus encore. Notre équipe du Lac des Îles a dirigé la visite, orientant les étudiants sur différents aspects de l'industrie du graphite tout en répondant à toutes les questions soulevées concernant les équipements de machinerie lourde présents sur place. Nous étions ravis de jouer un rôle dans la formation des futurs opérateurs d’équipement lourd inscrits à ces cours.
