Luminato Festival Toronto is an international multi-arts festival dedicated to performance, visual art, music, theatre, dance, and programming that cuts across traditional art form boundaries. We work closely with Canadian artists to support the development and creation of distinctive new works, while also presenting today’s outstanding artists from around the world. In addition to commissioning and presenting new work, Luminato’s vision is to facilitate and celebrate shared experiences between artists and audiences. We reflect the people who makeup Toronto and provide both residents and visitors with authentic local experiences. We showcase Indigenous artists and we are committed to enhanced accessibility, both on stage and for our audiences, and promoting and adopting environmentally sustainable practices. The search is over! We’re delighted to share that Devyani Saltzman has been appointed our new Director for Arts and Participation. 🎉 Devyani will join us in July 2024, where she will work with colleagues across Cinema, Creative Collaboration, Immersive, Music, Theatre & Dance and Visual Arts to develop an inspiring, distinctive, and forward-looking arts and participation programme. She was most recently Director of Public Programming at the Art Gallery of Ontario, North America’s fourth largest museum, where she worked with their programming team to shape the museum as a forum for discourse, reflecting all communities and the narrative of Torontonians. She was also the founding curator at Luminato Festival Toronto and is the Vice Chair of the Writers' Trust of Canada and President of the Toronto Arts Council. Devyani’s shares our exciting vision to make the Barbican a place that serves our people and communities as well as presenting the best cutting-edge programming which will drive our ongoing organisational transformation plans.
