Boston, MA. (May 25, 2021) -  PayByCar, Inc., an innovative provider of transactional vehicle payment solutions, has announced the expansion of their services at 27 participating Alltown gas stations with Mobil branded fuel across Massachusetts, offering customers the added security of paying for gas and other goods directly from their mobile device, without ever having to use cash, a credit card or mobile app.

Drivers with E-ZPass toll transponders who register for PayByCar by texting ENROLL to 617-249-7524 will now be able to easily pay for their fuel through their car transponders, without having to touch the gas station keypad. Vehicles without a toll transponder can use PayByCar’s free non-toll sticker to enroll.

“Following the success of PayByCar’s pilot testing at Alltown locations in Boston’s MetroWest, we are excited to provide our pay-by-text services to drivers across the Bay State to ensure added safety and security when fueling their cars at Alltown gas stations,”  said Kevin Condon, CEO, and founder of PayByCar.

The way it works is simple. PayByCar drivers entering Alltown gas stations in Massachusetts are recognized by the car transponder and sent a text message to their smartphone. Once parked, simply reply with the pump number and PayByCar automatically turns that pump on, registers the transaction, charges your card, and sends you an e-receipt.

In addition to eliminating multiple points of contact like touching public surfaces, swiping cards, entering PINS, or waiting for paper receipts, the process also cuts transaction and refueling time by 73% for patrons during the winter months.

“Clearly, we’re living at a time when contactless payments are becoming increasingly important,” said Mark Cosenza, Senior Vice President from Global Partners LP, owner of Alltown convenience stores. “We’re excited to offer drivers not only the convenience of simple and quick transactions but also the added safety and peace of mind during the age of COVID by substantially reducing touch.”

The technology will soon be available for other kinds of transactions such as paying at convenience stores, car washes, drive-thrus, and restaurants in 2021. Since PayByCar’s launch, the company has made waves in the business technology world, leading to an unprecedented non-toll services pilot agreement with the E-ZPass Group in 2018 that allows the PayByCar service to leverage the transponders E-ZPass drivers already use to pay for highway tolls across 19 states -- a service the agency group calls “Driven by E-ZPass™”.
