Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop a gold mine located approximately five kilometres southwest of the Town of King’s Point and 15 kilometres northwest of the Town of Springdale on the Baie Verte Peninsula. The mine will be both open pit and underground workings developed with total ore production of approximately 2.1 million tonnes and 28.8 million tonnes of waste rock. Ore from the mine will be processed at the Nugget Pond processing plant/mill near the Town of Baie Verte.

• July 8, 2020 – The undertaking was registered.
• August 12, 2020 – Deadline for public comments.
• August 22, 2020 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• September 16, 2020 – Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required.
• September 16, 2020 – Environmental Assessment Committee is appointed.
• November 15, 2020 – Environmental Preview Report Guidelines due to be issued.
• November 20, 2020 – Environmental Preview Report Guidelines issued.
• March 11, 2021 – Environmental Preview Report Submitted.
• April 14, 2021 – Public Comments on the EPR are due.
• April 18, 2021 – The Minister’s decision on the EPR is due.
• May 7, 2021 – The Minister determined the project is released.
