On March 10, 2012, Tawana severely suffered a brain injury, PTSD, depression, and anxiety after being brutally assaulted by law enforcement. Eventually, she took eight medications and could barely talk as she had to write things down to communicate. As part of her treatment, her neurologist suggested putting a shunt in her brain and was even admitted to a psych ward. Tawana received intensive physical and psychological care, including counseling, while community activists and organizations supported her. Unfortunately, after abusing medicine for years, she accidentally overdosed twice.

There is no doubt that Tawana's life dramatically changed. Out of this, her book Power Over Pain:100 Healing and Motivational Quotes was birthed. Tawana is still battling post-concussion today, but wishes to inspire and motivate others in spite of her own situation.

Power Over Pain: 100 Healing and Motivational Quotes is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and GoodReads. The Ebook is on Kindle. In addition, you can follow Tawana on Amazon to get a new book release alert. A book trailer has been specially created:
