Fortuna Silver Mines Acquires Roxgold in Share Transaction

One of Canada's largest silver miners, Fortuna Silver Mines (NYSE: FSM) (TSX: FVI), is acquiring Roxgold, Inc. (TSX: ROXG) in a share transaction valued at about C$1 billion ($884.32 million). The transaction value represents a 42.1% premium to Roxgold's market value at the time of close on Friday, April 23rd.

The acquisition will allow for a "low-cost platform for gold and silver production growth in the world’s fastest growing precious metals producing regions", per a statement provided by Fortuna Silver. In addition, the combined entity will carry a lower cost of capital to fund future projects and exploration efforts.
