There is clear evidence of the urgent need to accelerate the transition towards a resource-efficient, low-carbon and inclusive economy. Sustainable Resource Corporation (TSX-V: SRC) is committed to this endeavour.
Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution the world has added ~ 1.5 trillion tonnes of CO₂ to the Earth’s atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. During 2022 we will be adding a further ~ 45 billion tonnes of CO₂ to that number. If we pass ~ 2.5 trillion tonnes of CO₂ added to the atmosphere, a number which we will reach before 2050 at current rates, the Earth will pass an irreversible tipping point. We need to start today on initiatives which will reverse the release of CO₂ and sequester carbon.
To act against the ongoing release of CO₂ and to sequester carbon from the atmosphere, Sustainable Resource Corporation (TSX-V: SRC) is planting trees. In 2022 we planted 32,089 trees on 33.30 acres (13.48 Ha) of land in New Brunswick, Canada. This process will sequester ~ 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ which is ten times (10X) more than the company releases with all its business activities (Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions). Sustainable Resource Corporation is, therefore, carbon negative. Our objective is to sequester more carbon from the atmosphere than we release to the atmosphere with our business activities. Each year we will strive to sequester more carbon from the atmosphere than we release.
The ‘rewilded’ land on which we are planting trees is owned by the company. The land will be retained in perpetuity on the company’s balance sheet. This rewilded land will serve as a carbon sink and nature preserve and the company will protect its assets for shareholders and for future generations.
33.3 ‘rewilded’ acres and 10,000 tonnes of sequestered CO₂ is a small number against the size of the worldwide issue of carbon release, but it is our beginning. You can help in this endeavour by considering the company for investment. Our basic tenet is that financial statements alone do not reflect the full costs or benefits of a business. We are running a profitable going concern business but, as importantly for us, we are also carbon negative and committing resources and capital to rewilding land and planting trees in a world that requires it.
In 2022 Sustainable Resource Corporation (TSX-V: SRC) is working to take ten times more CO₂ out of the atmosphere than we release through our business activities, leaving the world a better place.
