Verus Partners & Co. Announces the Appointment of Guy Savard

Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - October 13, 2015) - Verus Partners & Co., an independent investment banking advisory firm headquartered in Toronto, announces the appointment of Guy Savard to its expanding team. Mr. Savard will be based in Montreal and will oversee the expansion of the Verus team in Quebec.

Mr. Savard has been a trusted advisor to many of Canada's leading companies and families and a highly regarded business leader, board director and investment executive for decades. He is well known for his vision and negotiating skills. Prior to joining Verus, he was Chairman of the Board of Merrill Lynch Canada and President and Chief Operating Officer of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. He has advised on many of Canada's most prominent mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions on behalf of leading Canadian and international companies.

Mr. Savard currently serves as Special Advisor to Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and is a Director of DAVIDsTEA. He has previously served on numerous public and private company boards including AT&T Canada, Industrial Alliance Life Insurance, Business Development Bank of Canada, BioChem Pharma, Mega Blocks, Réno-Dépôt and Compagnie Benelux Paribas (Cobepa). He is an Honorary Director and past Chairman of the C.D. Howe Institute. Mr. Savard is a Member of the Order of Canada.

Mr. Savard joins an impressive team of senior leaders at Verus Partners & Co., a firm recently founded by Brian Hanson and Richard ("Dick") Falconer who were subsequently joined by Stanley Hartt. Mr. Hanson, a former Vice Chairman of CIBC World Markets and Co-Founder of UBS's M&A business in New York, began his career at Morgan Stanley and was a founding member of Gleacher & Co., one of the earliest, prominent independent global investment banking advisory firms.

Mr. Falconer, former Vice Chairman at CIBC World Markets, brings a 40 year career and vast industry experience and relationships to the firm. He served in a leadership capacity in diverse roles at CIBC, including Head of Research, Head of Energy and Co-Head of Global Investment Banking. Mr. Falconer has advised on many of Canada's landmark M&A and capital markets transactions.

Mr. Hartt is the former Chairman of Macquarie Capital Markets Canada, Chairman of Citigroup Global Markets Canada and Chairman and CEO of Campeau Corporation. He served as Deputy Finance Minister and Chief of Staff under Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. Messrs. Hanson, Falconer and Hartt bring a combined 100 years of investment banking experience that includes over $500 billion in advisory and financing transactions to Verus Partners & Co.
