Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - May 4, 2015) - David Morgan of the Silver-Investor discusses, in his weekly video, events of the week ending May 1, 2015 that are affecting the metals and currencies markets.

In currencies, the U.S. dollar touched a two-week high versus the Yen on May 1^st, rising from a two-month low versus a basket of major currencies, supported by signs the U.S. economy may be stabilizing following a recent soft patch. Sterling fell sharply against both the Euro and the U.S. dollar.

In metals news, gold hit a six-week low on Friday, as the dollar strengthened on U.S. economic data. While the price of gold traded in a narrow range this year, gold equities have improved slightly, with the S&P TSX Global Gold Index gaining 14% so far this year.

History shows that gold equities outperformed spot gold for most of the time between 2002 and 2008, a time when both shares and commodities such as gold were rallying.

CPM Group issued its 230 page 2015 Silver Yearbook, with its wealth of data. CMP sees some weakness in the months ahead for silver, but consolidating later in the year. However silver is more volatile than gold so we could see larger percentage falls on the downside, but a bigger rise once a recovery does begin to set in.
